Chuy’s is a Tex-Mex chain with a location soon to come on I-Drive. I visited their Kissimmee location and was quite pleased that the rumors of great food were true!

As is the norm in a majority of Mexican and Tex-Mex spots, our server provided us with chips and salsa upon seating us. We decided to try some queso (because you just have to have more cheese in your life).

This option came with beef, onion and tomato. It was really good. It was also pretty thick and heavy, so the thin crispy chips couldn’t quite do their job. That would be my one and only negative for this visit.

I ordered the chili relleno and enchilada combo.

You can pick and choose from a variety of sauces, so I tried the queso (yes, more cheese please) and creamy jalapeño. The creamy jalapeño sauce is one of the best sauces I have ever eaten. It was creamy and mild. Loved it all!

The hubs had his usual…combo fajitas.

This came with a generous order of rice and beans. Also, the toppings included what my husband said was the ‘best guacamole’ he had ever had. He even said he would travel from Orlando to Kissimmee just for the guac! Our server, Aaron, said the guac is made fresh hourly! It is apparently a signature item.

This place was packed on a Friday night and we noticed it was busy all weekend in the high-traffic, tourist-laden location. The decor is funky diner…

with some artsy touches, like this cool school of fish…

and these hub caps on the ceiling.

Even though they were busy, the service was excellent and the 15 minute wait to get in was worth it for the great tasting food.

If you’re in the area, check them out!
